We Are Different

On January 18, 2010, in Personal Injury, by K. Lindsay Rakers

It occurs to me that lately, some attorneys seem to be more focuses on bringing business in the door instead of giving existing clients the attention they deserve. Look around you – you will see hundreds of lawyers advertising their services. They all seem to say the same thing, don’t they? “Look at me, look at me! Whatever type of case you have, I can handle it!” We are different. We don’t claim to handle every type of case. We … Continue Reading >

Dangerous Roadways

On January 18, 2010, in Personal Injury, by K. Lindsay Rakers

We talk a lot about roadway accidents caused by inattentive drivers. But people are also severely injured by the condition of the roadway. We have represented individuals involved in accidents due to insufficient guardrails, lack of guardrails, lack of signing, lack of road shoulder, incorrect road striping, malfunctioning signal lights, downed signs, dangerous curves and other types of roadway dangers.

These cases are difficult, however, and an experienced lawyer is an absolute necessity. The roadways are controlled by state entities … Continue Reading >

On January 18, 2010, in Personal Injury, by K. Lindsay Rakers

If you have been hurt in an automobile accident, pedestrian accident, motorcycle accident or truck accident in Illinois or Missouri, chances are, the insurance adjuster is already bugging you. He wants you to just quick sign a “few forms” and give a recorded statement. The adjuster may even tell you that he is asking this of you so that he can pay you. Don’t trust him. He wants to get information from you before you retain an attorney.

If you … Continue Reading >

‘Tis Better to Maim?

On December 26, 2009, in Personal Injury, by K. Lindsay Rakers

We all would like to think that the justice system would protect us in the event of a tragic injury. Illinois law does provide that you are entitled to compensation in the event of an injury. Specifically, you are entitled to compensatory damages for your pain and suffering, medical bills, out of pocket expenses, and lost wages, among other things. If the defendant’s actions were conducted with malice or deliberate violence, you may also be entitled to “punitive damages.” Punitive … Continue Reading >

DWT is Just as Dangerous as DUI

On December 16, 2009, in Auto Accident, Motorcycle Accident, Personal Injury, by K. Lindsay Rakers

Let’s think about it. Why are there laws in place preventing motorists from driving while intoxicated? Is it because the lawmakers don’t want us to have any fun? Hardly. The DUI (Illinois) and DWI (Missouri) laws exist to protect us. It is a proven fact that intoxicated drivers are not able to quickly react or keep a proper lookout on the roadway. Intoxicated drivers are distracted and distraction leads to accidents. Similarly, a motorist looking at his phone instead of … Continue Reading >
