Two small children and an infant from Mount Vernon, Illinois were injured in a car accident on Highway 71 just south of Nevada, Missouri. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the children were taken to Nevada Regional Medical Center for treatment of their moderate injuries. The driver of the car apparently lost control of the vehicle while rounding a curve. The car overturned.

On September 13, 2010, two people were injured following an automobile accident that happened on Highway 13 near Reeds Spring.
According to the traffic crash report, Marcus Aschwege, 19, was driving a 2006 Mercury and Garry Mayberry, 50, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet at the time of the accident. KSDK reported tragic news late yesterday regarding a 4 year old boy found dead in a retention pond in Wood River, Illinois. Apparently, the little boy was swimming with three other kids, older than he, in a retention pond not intended for swimming. A Dupo, Illinois woman was at Barnes Pipe and Steel having large steel pipes loaded into her truck when suddenty, the weight shifted in the truck and a 30 foot long steel pipe fell on the lady’s legs. The pipe, estimated to weigh at least half a ton, crushed at least one of her legs – maybe both. On July 5, 2010, three vehicles were involved in a serious Missouri automobile accident in St. Genevieve County. According to KSDK, Southbound I-55 in Macoupin County Illinois was shut down for several hours following an accident on the roadway. Early this morning, a tractor trailer semi-truck ran off I-55 and flipped onto its side. KMOV has reported that the car that plunged into River Des Peres last week contained a 7 month-old infant boy. His father, 24 years old, drove the car into the river – the circumstances of the crash are still unknown. The driver is still in critical condition. The infant boy was found strapped in his carseat in the water but efforts to revive the boy were unsuccessful.
