St. Louis City Juvenile Court Judge Jimmie Edwards has something to smile about these days. Judge Edwards has been nominated by People Magazine as a national finalist for the 2011 People Readers’ Choice Hero campaign. Judge Edwards is deserving of this award for the outstanding work and dedication to the Innovative Concept Academy, which he created.
The Innovative Concept Academy was created in 2009 at the then abandoned and dilapidated Blewett Middle School on Cass Avenue in St. Louis city. … Continue Reading >
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of participating in a fantastic event with my co-worker, Andrew Mundwiller. The 4th Annual Cornhole Tournament took place at Kirkwood Park in Kirkwood, Missouri yesterday. It was a great turnout. The group started this even in 2007 and it has grown each year. We had a perfect day to catch up with friends, play a fun and competitive game and raise money for several great causes.
The event raised money for three charities – TouchPount … Continue Reading >
Today’s media continues its campaign to attack trial attorneys (the lawyers who represent the injured) and the actual injured. Of course, the folks responsible for spreading the lies and generalizations about trial attorneys and plaintiffs tend to shed their beliefs when they are injured or when a family member has been wronged. I represent people injured in a variety of situations – car crashes, tractor trailer accidents, falls on property, animal attacks, dangerous consumer products, dangerous drugs and pharmaceuticals, mask … Continue Reading >

Way to go Olivette Missouri! Just as University City Missouri recently decided, Olivette has made a decision to allow its residents to be a part of a domestic partnership registry. The city counsel approved this measure without opposition! The final vote will be at the next meeting. The registry will cost $45 to join and will simply recognize partnerships between unmarried adults as long as they are living together.
As a personal injury attorney, I all-too-often hear of circumstances where … Continue Reading >

Today, my three year old daughter was part of a neat experience at her preschool. All of the kids were allowed to bring their bikes and helmets to school. A group came to the school and met with all of the kids – explaining bike safety, checking for proper helmet fits, and showing … Continue Reading >
Sometimes lawyer win huge verdicts in cases or win crucial motions in court – and we all like to discuss these “wins” because it reinforces that we are doing good. If all of us plaintiff lawyers continue to win, we know that we are doing our job in standing up for the little guys, against the big guys.
Today, I had what most would be considered a small motion in front of a Judge on an Illinois car crash case. … Continue Reading >
In 2009, House Bill 600 was passed prohibiting texting while driving – but it ridiculously applied only to drivers 21 and younger. The rest of Missouri drivers were given the option to lawfully drive while distracted by sending or reading a text.
31 states have laws banning all drivers from sending text messages behind the wheel. An additional nine states have laws that limit texting while driving based on the driver’s age or license status. However, Missouri’s age limit of … Continue Reading >
In December 2009, a Missouri Highway Patrol trooper was killed when he was struck by an out of control vehicle while working in Eureka, Missouri. An honored officer, the trooper was a gay man and had been with his male partner for 15 years. This tragic story was made even worse by the fact that the State of Missouri refused to provide the fallen officer’s life partner with any benefits. In fact, the state issued a public statement that the … Continue Reading >
